Wellbeing in the Workplace
A cornerstone of business growth
As we enter a new decade, there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that promoting the wellbeing of employees is an issue which all organisations need to consider when it comes to the growth of their business.
Mental health, resilience & emotional wellbeing are phrases that all managers are now familiar with and understand must be considered when dealing with the spectrum of HR issues that can arise at any moment. There is a clear connection between a healthy body to productivity and motivation within the workplace.
Here at Rainbow Valley, we have kicked off 2020 by introducing a programme which could be the answer to ensuring employees have a better understanding of how they can live healthier and more productive lives both at home and within the workplace.
‘Wellbeing in the Workplace’ found its roots in our ‘7 Steps to Health’ Course – a three day programme for those on their cancer journey.
Since Rainbow Valley’s inception in 2012 we have researched and developed a unique programme of health which is delivered by accredited professionals. The 7 Steps to Health Course enables people to manage all aspects of life during cancer. We merge the very best of science and spirituality to empower people to take control of their health throughout treatment.
This 2-day residential course treats each person individually at a fundamental and profound level with the aim of establishing a healthy, balanced underlying state, enabling the body’s own healing mechanisms to operate at optimum level and restore health and control.
We now know that these fundamental principles, when applied and practiced, lead to greater productivity and health in all settings including the workplace. When organisations and individuals adopt a programme of wellbeing it has been proven that productivity increases. By creating a happy and healthy workplace you will find an increase in productivity, engagement, motivation and loyalty.
The new Workplace Programme happened almost by accident when a supporter of the organisation who had attended the course asked Rainbow Valley to deliver a shortened version to his team at Shell UK.
“Your presentation helped give me the motivation I needed to start and change my lifestyle. Since that I have join Ourplan and lost 1 ½ st and am now running 5k three days per week and today attempted to run over the Forth Road Bridge. Productivity has improved throughout our workplace so an outstanding success all round”. – Jon Huggett, Indirect Sales Manager, Shell UK
Angela MacVicar, Rainbow Valley Chairperson said,
“Wellbeing is something that we should all prioritise in our lives. We have delivered our full course to hundreds of people over the last eight years and what we know for sure is that attendees feel the effects in their lives in the longer term.
An increasing number of employers are taking an interest in wellbeing in the workplace and recognising the link between optimising nutritional intake, exercise etc and employees’ wellbeing and productivity.”
Forward-thinking employers understand that wellbeing is more than just physical—it involves several factors, including mental and emotional health. As a result, companies are developing new ways to support workers’ cognitive and psychological needs with a holisitic approach to wellbeing.
It is a fact that companies with an engaged workforce with high wellbeing are found to have operating margins almost three times higher than companies with low engagement.
By engaging the fundamental principles of our 7 Steps to Wellbeing in the Workplace you will find that you and your colleagues are creating a positive, healthy environment in which to work. An environment which is key to increased productivity as well as employee retention and happiness will give you:
- Increased productivity
- Reduced work related stress
- Happier healthier employees
- Reduced absenteeism
The one day ‘Wellbeing in the Workplace’ programme is available from March 2020 across Scotland and can be delivered to groups of up to 20. We welcome your thoughts and are open to tailoring a more bespoke day taking into consideration any organisational priorities in helping promote the wellbeing of your workforce.
