This year on August 27th at The Boclair House Hotel in Bearsden we held our very first Sassy & Classy Ladies Lunch Event. The event was marketed on our social media pages and we sold out within the first 24 hours of marketing. The event was a huge success for Rainbow Valley, both in terms of fundraising (event raised just over £10k) and awareness raising, as we asked our captive audience of 150 female guests to tweet, Instagram and Facebook as many selfies and #'s of Rainbow Valley and the Sassy & Classy event as possible. We have had amazing feedback from our guests, which has led to many future fundraising opportunities for us. We know that we can build on this event for next year as many of guests able who attended this year’s event have expressed an interesting returning to the next one.
In order to recruit more volunteers across the different areas of Scotland we have also launched our Sassy & Classy DIY event. This follows an ask on the day, that our supporters organise their own lunch/dinner/drinks/cocktail party events and get their own networks involved. Rainbow Valley's fundraising team will be on hand to help support these events by sending on helpful event planner template's and budget planner templates, as well as being available on the phone to deal with any enquiry's our Sassy & Classy DIY event teams might have. We hope that these events will help us share our message & brand within more communities across Scotland and help us reach many more people who have been affected by cancer.

Given that my recent diagnosis was the second time for me, I have been under the “cancer care umbrella for a decade now and in all that time, I have never once been given the opportunity to attend anything like the experience we had with Rainbow Valley. This is particularly surprising as my cancer receives more publicity and funding than any other cancer type in the world! I do receive a magazine twice a year from one charity and have attended a talk on fertility issues and been given details of local mindfulness classes. Whilst I am sure invaluable support and advice is provided for many people by the bigger charities, this has not been my experience. We were astounded with the level of support and advice we received from Rainbow Valley, especially as they funded my husband to attend also. The 3 days we attended their seven steps to health course benefited us more than all other help collectively over the last 11 years. It is amazing that a relatively young charity without the benefit of the huge marketing budgets enjoyed by the high profile charities are able to achieve this.
I’m very much into nourishing my “whole” self. The workshop was very much about that and was very beneficial for me.
I really enjoyed the whole course in general, I felt everything had its place on the course and it was well planned out. Karen Phil & Betty were fabulous and took such great care of us. Also wee Ann and the chef were fabulous. We both left on an absolute high. Thanks again.
I feel I was so honoured to have the opportunity to be enrolled in this fabulous course with my sister. Seeing her and others, joyful and contributing to everything they were asked to get involved in. So much laughs and smiles was contagious.
Everyone was genuinely respectful and supportive to each other to which a strong friendship bond was developed amongst us all and with the wonderful caring staff.
I felt truly I felt truly valued and lucky to have had this opportunity to be part of the Rainbow valley experience and hope it’s not the last xx
The mindfulness course was everything I had hoped it would be. Edward is amazing. He makes you laugh and feel good and puts everyone at ease. He takes you from laughter to complete relaxation.
He makes mindfulness make sense and equips you with tools to take home to make it happen in your everyday.
I feel so blessed to have been apart of this experience. I affirmatively and positively was present in the moment and loved every minute of it.
There was a great feeling of being home on arriving at Ardoch. The familiarity instantly made you relax. Seeing familiar faces to welcome you was simply lovely. Having all the beautiful food again was a reminder and a gentle prompt and encouragement to eat a rainbow!
Thank you so so much for all your hard work. Thank you so much to Rainbow Valley for giving my mum and I not only special time together but also for equipping us with knowledge and skills to enhance our lives.
To be part of the Rainbow Valley family is a privilege. – Lou Collins
